1805 O.105a R6- Draped Bust Half Dollar PCGS VF25 CAC

CAC approved. Tompkins Die State 4.  This is one for the die state enthusiasts among us. The 05-105a, with die breaks along the top of ITE as we find here (though that picture didn't make the cut...it's coming, but you can trust me, the break actually forms a retained cud), is rarely found in a PCGS graded holder, and virtually never when CAC approved. But, here are both aspects. A couple of decent examples have sold within the past several years, a PC12 CAC in 2017 @$2880, and a PC25 without CAC approval in 2019 for $2640. This present coin is a later die state than both of those, is tied for the highest graded PCGS coin in the sale records and is CAC approved. A triple threat!
