1807 O.111a Large Stars 50/20 Bearded Goddess Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS XF40 CAC
CAC approved. OK, so here's a serious coin. First, the bad news. PCGS has mis-attributed the coin as an O.111b (coin number 39358). In reality, the coin is an O.111a (coin number 39355). Though the beard from chin-to-chest is fully defined, it is not thick and the crack does not extend nearly as far as a 111b should. Here, it is faintly visible into the drapery and does not reach Liberty's eye, though it is clear at her mouth and nose. The rest of the story is all good. The coin is super choice, totally original and has great "meat". The eye appeal is fabulous. And, the price is about a third of what it would be if the die state was later. Any 1807 O.111, regardless of die state, in PCGS XF and with CAC approval, is cause for celebration. Advance congratulations to the new owner!
