1817 O.103"b" R6? Capped Bust Half Dollar NGC AU50 CAC

CAC approved. Aside from some old crust on the cheek (which I think gives the coin unmistakable originality...it was never cleaned off), everything else about this great coin is, well...great! The luster, the color, the intact originality, and a rare die state too! This is the latest known die state, where the primary die dot (the punctuation) has weakened and/or been removed by lapping, then a bunch of these were made with no punctuation, and then a new, smaller, lower dot appeared, and a few coins were struck thus. This is one of those few, and is by far the finest one we've seen.
