1828 JR-2 Large Date Capped Bust Dime PCGS AU50 (CAC)
CAC approved. I simply love a situation where quality, eye appeal, originality and real rarity come together in one tiny package...and here is just such a situation. 1828 Small date dimes are somewhat scarce, and I like them, especially when choice. But, 1828 Large date dimes are much, much tougher, especially when choice, as we happen to have here. Let's run a few numbers. Total number of these in all AU grades combined (PCGS graded, of course) is 16. Total number of CAC approved AU's (this could be PCGS or NGC coins) is 4, distributed as one each in 50, 53, 55 and 58. This then, is the only AU50 to wear a Green Bean. Lest you think this only an AU and better rarity, the total number of CAC approved XF's combined is a mere 5. VF's combined? 6. Folks, this is a brutally tough, major Redbook variety to find nice. Here is a lovely one. Enjoy!
