When I first started collecting Capped Bust halves by die variety (in 1985...jeez...that was a long time ago), I set my sights on learning how to cherrypick R4 die varieties first, reasoning that I had a decent chance of finding some of them, as opposed to the real rarities, and that I might stumble across something really rare as I went. It worked, and with the help of many mentors, chief among them, Dr. Micheal Summers, I enjoyed reasonable success. However, a few of the R4 varieties eluded me. It took me 6 or 7 years to find any 28-111, and it wasn't a nice coin, so I respected the variety a great deal. I still do. Here is a reasonably pleasing, original example without significant problems.
