Totally original, with an antique patina - and a pedigree - that can't be beat. This coin appeared as lot 3093 in Bowers and Merena's November 1988 sale of the Norweb collection, and then as a part of the James Bennett Pryor collection, by the same firm (lot 74), in January 1996. Coins from Norweb are well known to be of high quality and exhibit great originality. James Pryor took those qualifications to another level. Aside from a very few, mostly wispy obverse marks, this coin is stunning. The color is amazingly beautiful, the luster underneath is full and intact, and the fields are smooth. Maybe only a 62, but the eye appeal is that of a gem!
