A prime die state, without filled A's on the reverse. In fact, we find no evidence of even minor chipping in either A1 or A2. As such, this is truly a toughie! In my nearly 35 years of study and search in this series, I have found a grand total of 3 of these, none as nice as this lovely, choice, original coin. The most recent public sale I can find was an NGC XF45 sold by Downey in 2016 for $990 (he noted the coin was "generously graded" by NGC, and suggested that most observers would settle on XF40...or Choice VF!). This one is priced right!
