From an old-time collection, formed starting in the early 1970's, and continuing thru the late 1990's. This coin has been in that collection since 1987. It is brilliant with just a faint hint of gold at the rims. If you look really closely, you'll catch a glimpse of actual album toning just flowing over the edges a tiny bit, on both sides. The surfaces are essentially smooth, showing only a few scattered light marks, the strike is pin-point, and the luster is AU58 worthy all day long. Full disclosure...CAC chose not to sticker this coin, which is honestly a bit of a head-scratcher. It is a very nice coin for the grade. This is Die State 106.1, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website.
