Known to old-time Bust half folks as an AB (along with the 1834 O.113). Those two marriages are so similar, they have defied efforts to easily distinguish them, as well as to explain them...thus the moniker AB (Abominable Bastard) was awarded many years ago. I have long thought these were an early hubbing experiment, but much more research needs to be done by a new generation. A wonderfully pleasing, original example. This is Die State 114.1, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website.
