A very pleasing, original skin example of this inaugural year's coinage. The brand new SF Mint produced only gold in 1854...quite a number of $10's and $20's, a modest 14,632 of these, and tiny numbers of $2.50's and $5's, both of which are great rarities today. This coin's color, luster, strike and overall eye appeal are each excellent.
