1875-S BF-6 R4 Twenty Cent PCGS MS62 CAC
CAC approved. A fabulous type coin, or an important example for anyone interested in the die varieties of this short, very compelling series. Fresh, original, well-struck and without distractions. The luster is full and cartwheels freely over smooth, trouble-free surfaces. Per the pioneering work of our friends and colleagues Lane Brunner and John Frost (Double Dimes, The United States Twenty-cent Piece), this is supposed to show heavy obverse clash marks (right of elbow and knee), while late states are noted to display die cracks in CENTS to the second A in AMERICA. We have the cracks here, but no sign of clash marks (or lapping to remove clash marks, which would have been severe). Of potential further interest, this is the same reverse die used to produce the few known Branch mint Proof examples.
