1885-CC Morgan Dollar NGC MS64 CAC, super flashy!

CAC approved. Just a great example of what would be a really expensive coin...but for the GSA hoard!  There were only 228,000 of these produced, which is the 3rd lowest mintage in the series, behind only the 1893-S and 1894.  But, since these coins weren't actually needed at the time, they were simply stored, and very few of them circulated.  Thus, the vast majority of them were preserved!  Survival ratio is much more important in determining rarity than mintage is, and these, for the most part, survived. 1893-S's for example...not so much. A happy circumstance for collectors today, since this amazing, semi-prooflike, super sweet coin would otherwise cost a large multiple of what it actually does!
