1897-S Redfield Morgan Dollar, Red MS65 holder

A great example of this historic and very interesting hoard. LaVere Redfield was a truly eccentric, wealthy Nevada resident, who in the 1940's through roughly 1970 or so assembled a huge hoard of US Silver dollars, primarily in sealed, original mint bags. The hoard was sold after Redfield's death to Paramount International Coin Corp in Ohio...407,000 silver dollars for 7.3 million dollars. Paramount marketed the coins in bulk to many other dealers, but sold many coins retail in these holders...Black were graded MS60, Red MS65 and Green were called MS70. Later iterations exist, after the actual Redfield coins were all sold, but those holders only say PARAMOUNT, and not REDFIELD. This is the real deal! The coin is beautiful and displays only slight rim toning. It would grade 64 today.
