1809 O.109 III Edge Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS VF30 CAC, ex. Delorme
CAC approved. Ex Fr. Dan DeLorme, a long-ago BHNC member, and with his kraft envelope. I have to make some assumptions here: Fr. DeLorme bought this coin from "Stu", who may have been Stu Witham, BHNC #001. It would appear that DeLorme may have paid $98, definitely in Oct 1988. In any event, the coin was graded "EF+" at the time (of course, it was raw), apparently by "Stu". There are some additional notes, which may be in the hand of Henry Hilgard, BHNC 046. Whatever the history here is, the coin is lovely. Magnificent in fact. This is Die State 109.2, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website.
