1817/3 O.101a Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS VF35

An old friend, and one we are very happy to have back. The late states of this variety tend to be very poorly struck on the central reverse, in some case even lacking an eagle's head. No a problem here. This example is very well struck for the die state, original, very attractively toned and without issues. This is not only my favorite overdate in the Bust half series, it is also one of my favorite overdates in any US series. OK, you caught me...1817/4 is really my favorite, but this is a really close second.
