Here's a tough coin you really don't see. It is not only a very scarce die marriage, it is also a major Redbook variety now too. The obverse die shows the newer 1 punch, with a peaked top, while the reverse die displays the old 1 punch, with a flat top. The reverse die was used earlier on both 1823/2 JR-2 and JR-3, and then on the very rare, newly discovered JR-14 variety of 1827. This example is softly lustrous, beautifully album toned and problem free. The eye appeal is very substantial.
