CAC approved. From the Lane Brunner collection, earlier from us. A very choice example...totally original and bordering on magnificent for the grade. But this one will go to a die state specialist. It's rare. In 40 years, I've owned exactly 2 of them, and this by far is the finer. Die cracks originating at S6 and right of the date converge in the center. The other example I owned had cracks that were slightly better defined, but this one pretty much has it all! This is Die State 107.3, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website. Please see our Numismatic Literature section, and get your copy today! Dr. Lane J. Brunner was a great friend and customer of DKRC for many years. He was a very accomplished person, and was most recently the Founding Dean of the School of Pharmacy at University of Texas, Tyler. He collected many things, but Bust half dollars were his true love. He assembled a collection of nearly 650 of them, including 440 die varieties, as well as many rare die states. His coins are uniformly choice and pleasing, with virtually all being PCGS graded, and more than half CAC approved as well. We mourn his passing at a very young age and miss him greatly, but we are honored to be handling the sale of the entire collection for his family.
