CAC approved. A pretty darn early die state of this iconic Redbook variety...the only known use of a Large Letter reverse paired with an 1832 obverse. The really strange thing is that all coins struck from this die - at least those found to date - show at least some portion of the die crack under the eagle's wing. This is an early die state to be sure, but it is not the earliest I've seen. The coin itself is about as sweet an AU50+ as you're going to find! This is Die State 101.1, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website.
