1832 O.117 R4+ Small Letters Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS XF45 CAC
CAC approved. An outstanding coin for the grade...perfectly original, softly lustrous and simply beautiful thanks to a magnificent, antique golden olive patina. There are a few scattered light marks, well within expectations, but all else is just as you would draw it up! As such, this is a truly scarce die variety. In my 40 years of collecting and studying this series, I've only owned 2 examples that were clearly better than this, and maybe one other similar to it. This is Die State 117.1, per the BHNC's new die state handbook, "Die State Progressions of the Capped Bust Half Dollar Die Varieties 1807-1836", which is a very modest cost item, available right here on our website.
