1833 O.101 Capped Bust Half Dollar PCGS AU55 (CAC), ex. Summers / Kahn / Hoosier
CAC approved. An old friend, and one that I am overjoyed to have back, even if only for a short time. I bought this coin from my primary Bust half dollar mentor and amazingly accomplished collector, Dr. Michael Summers. Mike is a physicist, planetary scientist and astronomer who teaches at George Mason University and spends some of his spare time on various NASA missions. He has recently published two incredibly interesting books (yes, they are for us mere mortals...if can understand them, you certainly can) about exoplanets and life in the universe. Please find them both here. This coin is simply stunning. It is undergraded, as PCGS did not understand the inherent bluntness of the strike, but the luster tells us that this coin actually grades at least AU58. And the originality is perhaps the most intact I have ever seen. This coin is breathtaking.
