1839-O GR-5 R4+ Capped Bust Half Dollar, PCGS VF35, ex. Dick Graham

Ex. Dick Graham reference collection. Original, very pleasing and without significant issues. A tiny rim ding at S4 is the only minor issue. As Dick suggested in his 2012 book on the subject (we have precious few of the 2nd printing still in stock, less than 5...get your copy while you still can), the GR1 variety of 1839-O comprises about 95% of the known specimens. Thus, when any other die variety comes up, one should not hesitate. The GR4 and this variety (GR5) are each tough R4's. The other two, GR2 and GR3, remain unique or nearly so to this day...though I do believe a few more will be found in the future.
