A bit on the dark side, but still pleasing. This is a cool variety, as are most 1840-O half dollars, but this one a bit more so than typical. It has the “baseball crack” reverse, which may be as rare as the more widely-known and thus more popular (and expensive) 1841-O variety with the same moniker (WB-2). But, this variety also uses the experimental “re-engraved dentils” obverse, and experiment that apparently didn’t go so well, since we don’t see it repeated. A nice coin with much to recommend it.
