1842-O WB-1 R5 SD/SL Rev 1839 Liberty Seated Half Dollar PCGS XF45 CAC
CAC approved (one of only 12 coins so approved in ALL GRADES COMBINED), and a simply breathtaking example of this significant, Redbook rarity. This is an interesting die pairing, using a scarce Small Date obverse with an old, Small Letters reverse. As a die variety, these are rare, but not overwhelmingly so. It is a challenge of moderate difficulty to find and buy a lower-grade example or one with issues. But, if you want a gem, drop-dead original, stunningly beautiful choice XF or AU, your wait is very likely to be long and frustrating. I can fix that, right here, right now! This coin is actually a superb AU50, and soft luster is found everywhere, but the often-seen, somewhat blunt centers threw PCGS for a loop. XF45 is the lowest conceivable grade for this astounding coin, but that is of little consequence. The eye appeal offered here is 12 on a 10 scale.
