1903-O Barber Half Dollar CACG AU58
CAC Grading. First, let's consider the quality of this coin. We can argue about grade all day long (personally, I think if this isn't a 58+, then I don't know what could possibly be), but quality does not offer quite the space for argument like grade. The freshness and originality here are incredible. The luster flows and rolls freely over every surface, and shows - maybe - a tiny bit of disturbance. Maybe. The strike is very bold, though like virtually all of these New Orleans products, is not truly full. The surfaces are very clean, and show only a few widely scattered minor marks. The eye appeal is in-your-face and borders on breathtaking. Now let's consider the rarity as such. There are a mere 4 stickered AU58 1903-O half dollars, and since this is a Legacy coin - meaning it was formerly in a stickered holder - that population hasn't changed. The last time a CAC-approved AU of any grade sold at public auction was...never. The last time a PCGS AU58 without sticker sold at public auction was in 2011. Here is a genuine opportunity for the serious Barber half collector working on a fabulous quality AU58 set.
