1918/7-D Buffalo Nickel PCGS AU53 CAC
CAC approved. With CAC-approved AU examples in very short supply (a mere 20 in all AU grades combined, some of which may be in NGC plastic), the opportunity to acquire a great example doesn't come along very often and is likely to be fleeting. And, a PCGS/CAC combo doesn't actually guarantee a coin you'd be proud to own...see for example: https://coins.ha.com/itm/buffalo-nickels/nickels/1918-7-d-5c-fs-101-au55-pcgs-cac/a/1294-3690.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515. I"m sure it's a nice coin, but it is a bit spotty and not well struck. And it sold for $15,000 in April 2019. This coin isn't spotty, and it is quite well struck. There is plenty of soft luster and lovely, subtle blue/gold iridescence from long storage in an album. The eye appeal is outstanding, and there are no distractions. Which is exactly what I'd want my overdate nickel in AU to be!
