1936 Walking Liberty Half Dollar PCGS MS66 CAC, Gen 2.1 holder

CAC approved. This is one of my favorite generation holders, what I call a Frame-Around. The Gen 2 holders (2.0 Doily, this 2.1 and 2.2) represent a transitional bridge from the Rattler, which did not stack at all, to the fundamental shape PCGS produces today. The way they got there was to take a Rattler shape and put a supplemental frame around it...which this is. The frames were rather flimsy and didn't hold up really well, and the whole thing was short-lived...a mere 5 months from Rattler, to Doily, to these, and then finally to the shape with integral stacking rims (Gen 3.0) making its debut in Jan 1990. This holder is in great shape, with the frame showing only the most trivial crazing. It is completely intact. The coin is lovely too!
